America

America

We live in an Amazing country; is it perfect?  Absolutely not, but that does not change the fact that I feel blessed to live in this great country.

Tomorrow is Independence Day, and every year around this time I begin to think about our founding fathers.  I love the fact that people believed so whole-heartedly in a cause that they would be willing to risk everything with no guarantee of success.

This year I feel like for the first time I have a glimpse of what they felt.  Now I am not trying to say in any way that us starting a church is as big as people starting a country.  But for the first time I felt like I was on a ledge and if I stepped out in faith there was no guarantee of success.  But we felt like this was what God had for us so we leaped.  What an amazing journey living out your faith.  Now I never want to go back to the safe life, I want to live on the edge of the cliff taking steps of faith where if God doesn’t show up it wont work.

Enough about me. Here are a few quotes from our founding fathers.

"Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety."
-Benjamin Franklin

“I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”
- Patrick Henry

[The Fourth of July] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.
- John Adams

We have this day [Fourth of July] restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven, and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His Kingdom come.
- Samuel Adams

I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet through all the gloom I see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth all the means. This is our day of deliverance.
-John Adams
