Do you ever…? Yeah me neither
Do you ever have moments of discouragement? Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Do you ever wonder if you measure up? Yeah me neither I was just asking for a
friend J
All of us have moments or seasons where we don’t feel
strong. Where we feel overwhelmed and we
wonder if we will make it through.
Isn’t it weird how great seasons seem to fly by but hard
seasons seemed to last FOREVER? I grew
up in San Diego, and being a sports fan in San Diego that means I am a fan of
the Padres and Chargers. We haven’t had
that many great seasons in our history but when we do they are so exciting and
they seem to just fly by. But when we
are going through a tough season, it just seems to drag on and on and I find
myself wondering when this will be over.
That’s how life can feel at times. But no season lasts forever. We will go through seasons that are more
difficult then others but understand you will make it through. The season wont last. One of the things that we need to understand
about the difficult seasons of life is where to find our strength.
Psalm 18 ESV
18 I love you, O Lord,
my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death
encompassed me;
the torrents of destruction assailed me;
5 the cords of Sheol entangled me;
the snares of death confronted me.
the torrents of destruction assailed me;
5 the cords of Sheol entangled me;
the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I
called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
17 He
rescued me from my strong enemy
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
19 He brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
19 He brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
.
31 For who is God, but the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?—
32 the God who equipped me with strength
and made my way blameless.
33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer
and set me secure on the heights.
And who is a rock, except our God?—
32 the God who equipped me with strength
and made my way blameless.
33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer
and set me secure on the heights.
39 For you equipped me with strength for the battle;
you made those who rise against me sink under me.
49 For
this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations,
and sing to your name.
50 Great salvation he brings to his king,
and shows steadfast love to his anointed,
to David and his offspring forever.
and sing to your name.
50 Great salvation he brings to his king,
and shows steadfast love to his anointed,
to David and his offspring forever.
Here are a few verses from Psalm 18. David wrote this Psalm after he had went
through some difficulty with Saul. It’s
obvious that he knew where his strength came from, it’s obvious that he
believed that the Lord was with him in that season.
When you cling to God in a difficult season you will see His
fingerprints when you are out.
I don’t know where
you are right now in your life. Maybe
everything is great or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed. Cling to God, let Him be your strength and He
will bring you through.
