But it's so hard

Life is full of seasons; there are seasons where everything seems to be going just right.  Then there are season where everything just seems to be so difficult. 

Wait but I’m a Christian? If I’m a Christian doesn’t that mean that everything should be easy?  Not many people would actually say that but we sometimes live as though that is what we believe.  You don’t believe me?  Let me prove it to you.

God puts a desire on your heart, and you decide that you are going to go forward with living out that desire.  Maybe you are going to help homeless people, or you’re going to teach a class in kid’s ministry.  Maybe God is calling you to start a business so that you can help others.  You are all excited about the opportunity and night before the big day when you are going to be stepping out you can’t sleep because you are so excited then something pops your balloon.  Everything doesn’t go as planed.  There are problem everything isn’t perfect then you realize THIS IS HARD!  Yes it’s hard! Who ever said that it was going to be easy?

God does not promise us an easy life.  Where do we see an example of that in the Bible?  When the disciples decided to follow Jesus did their life become easy? No! What about Paul when he surrendered to Christ did everything just magically work out for him? No!

There are a couple of things that I have learned in my life:

One is our world is broken and since we live in a broken world there are going to be problems.  But problems and hardships don’t take away my joy.  Problems don’t take away the grace God has given me.  Problems actually help reveal what God has done in me.

The second thing that I have learned is that God’s plan for your/my life in bigger then us.  If it wasn’t bigger then us, then we could do it on our own.  God’s plan for our lives will always bring us to our knees.  We will come to a place where we say, “I can’t do this” and that’s right where God wants us.  When we realize that we can’t we can realize that God can.  Now I pray different.  I understand that I need God, I understand what it means to “walk” with God, and now God gets all the credit.  I know we really don’t like that one, because we like our ego being stroked but the more we understand that we need God to accomplish His plan the better we will sleep.  We won’t live under constant stress because we’re walking with God and we’re doing what He has for us to do so he has it under control.

Christians we need to stop playing life safe.  It’s time we step out and live out some God dreams.  Will it be hard?  YES!  But it will be worth it.  Nothing in life worth anything comes easy!  Stop being satisfied with “making it to heaven” and start helping others see who God is.  I am telling you your life will never be the same and you will never want to go back to the way life used to be.
